UMB Summer Internship Program
BAHEC has partnered for the past 5 years with UMB’s Summer Internship Program to provide minority and disadvantaged Baltimore City high school students with research experience at UMB Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing to expose them to research and health careers. To date, 85 students have participated in the program.
UMMC Future Workforce Youth Programs
BAHEC also helps support University of Maryland Medical Center’s Future Workforce Youth programs that introduces youth to occupations in health care through internships, seminars, hospital tours and much more. These youth-focused programs play a pivotal role in supporting the surrounding community.
Both summer jobs programs are sponsored by the Mayor’s office for Baltimore City Youth. The YouthWorks slogan “Summer Jobs Launch Careers” describes the lasting effect that a productive summer job can have on a young person. Through targeted matching of jobs to older teens’ career interests and an emphasis on effective work behaviors and financial literacy for all participants, YouthWorks helps prepare our future workforce for successful careers.
